The headlines read Earthquake in Haiti. The pictures are devastating and are amazingly graphic with proof that this disaster is indeed true and real. The last earthquake to hit the Caribbean happened about 200 years ago. The earthquake that hit about 5pm yesterday in Haiti was a 7.0 which is a relatively high mark on the Richter scale. With aftershocks in the 5.0 range which is just as close in scale as the earthquake. In relation to earthquakes in the 7.0 range about 18 per year occur; this could mean more to come. News and media sites report the casualties will be huge, the prime minister has estimated the number to be around 100,000 deaths. Buildings have fallen, homes are destroyed, prisoners have escaped and the national building has collapsed. Many relief funds are forming ways to participate in aiding those in Haiti who will need the resources that are being populated.

The orphanage is located in the Port-au-Prince area in Delmas not far from the earthquake. We are trying our best to get in contact with our directors at the orphanage. We can only pray that all the kids, teachers and directors are safe, but please aid in praying and in monetary aid through relief organizations. On the site we have ways to donate to the orphanage and we are shifting the donations that we receive to help in all areas of the earthquake relief. Please find a way to reach out and help us save lives of our families, friends, love ones and those we do not know. You can help in may ways please lend a hand, a voice and your heart.

FaithAfter countless attempts to find information about the condition of the orphanage we finally made some progress. We managed to get in contact with the owner of the house next door. She stated that her house was still intact and the orphanage still stands. We also spoke to the owner of the orphanage house and she also confirmed that the house is in good condition. No word yet from any of the staff members within, nor have we heard any news about the children. We are trying our best to get as much information about the condition and the where abouts of the staff and children.

Our search for aid in this matter is extremely urgent and we ask for any and every hand that can help. Please continue to donate, we appreciate all the efforts so far to help us in the tragic time. We urge all people to help with food, clothes and monetary goods; all these and prayers can not be done in excess. The orphanage officials are working diligently to find more direct information about the children.

I have created this poster to spread awareness about the disaster but to also send a message to the people that Haiti is in God's hands and to have faith. Thank you and God bless.

We have just received word from the staff members of the orphanage, the children and staff members are safe. The staff members of the orphanage urge for food, water and medical attention for the children. Though they are safe the air is polluted with the stench of three day old decaying bodies laying in the street. Dust is building up making the air harder to breathe and harder for respiration. The kids are surrounded by all kinds of dangerous elements we need your help to give the kids a better chance to survive this disastrous time.

We are working on ways to make the site more interactive for those who are following our posts. There will soon be a platform to leave comments; we ask if you can spread word of the orphanage by posting a link on other web sites that would be a great help to our cause. We have a cause page on facebook and we're accepting all friend request, we encourage visitors to leave comments with ideas on how to make a better impact. Continue to use the contact form on our web site to find out information on adopting or sponsoring a child. Please continue to send your prayers and gifts of love, care and hope. Haiti has faith!

We would like to say thank you to all of the relief organizations that are lending a helping hand at RMOF. We have received various types of aid; milk, water, school kits, canned foods, pastas, oil, rice, cornmeal, cereal, juices ect. While these organizations were visiting other orphanages in the area, they made sure to make a stop at RMOF. We have been informed that the children have received medical attention and are looking to prvide more in that field, our aid is looking to supply the orphanage with a water filtration system as well.

We have received a tent from Unicef, but are in need of mattresses due to water damage from the children sleeping outside. The orphanage director has insisted on the children sleeping outside due to fear of the building collapsing. We are in need of a structural engineer to assure the director that the building is safe, and that the children do not have to sleep outside.

Again we would like to thank everyone who has helped so far, materially and monetarily; Unicef, Sow A Seed, Kenny Rae - Humanitarian Response Specialist - Oxfam America. Giuseppe Damiano - Program Coordinator Haiti COOPI - RAPID Latino America. And Leslie Teltoe - Citizen Action Team Relief for front lining the efforts to aid our children, just to name some. We thank you for your support and we ask to keep on supporting with your help we can make a difference.
